So, as I mentioned, I saw The Dark Knight on Friday, and lo, my mind, she was blown into itty-bitty pieces. Heath Ledger stole the movie, but then, the Joker almost always steals the show from Batman (even when it's the yummy Christian Bale behind the mask).
Saturday I watched half of the first episode of HBO's Generation Kill, then decided there wasn't any point to watching more. Yeah, it's well-done. Yeah, it's realistic. But it elevated my level of contempt for the human race to toxic levels, and I certainly don't need to be doing that to myself. -_-;;
Saturday night T. and I went to the Aladdin to see Aimee Mann, who was smart and hilarious and in excellent voice. The opening act, Blind Pilot, was excellent as well, despite their not-so-great name. ^^;;
This morning I watched the season finale of Avatar, and my freshly reassembled mind was blown once again. It also left me with lovely warm fuzzies that helped me detox from the previous day's viewing experience. I'd agree with those who compare Avatar to the first Star Wars trilogy, except that Avatar is a zillion times more awesome. :D
ETA: I've read some of the fanwank about the finale, and here's my take: ( Warning: MASSIVE FINALE SPOILERS ahead. )
Now back to work so that I can lighten my load before leaving for Comic-Con on Tuesday. Whee~!

If not, too bad, because I'm going to go ahead and gush about how awesome last night's episode was anyway. Especially the last scene, where Zuko bops Aang with the cluehammer. (There, that's non-spoilery enough, I suppose... though what I really want to gush about is the opening sequence and the volcanic hotness that is Season 3 Zuko. *_*)
On a side note: damn this season! I've repeatedly sworn I wouldn't ship Zuko and Aang. But, as you all know too well, young energetic idealist + slightly older bitter realist = a Sakka OTP. Someone save me from myself!

This is one of the most appalling and infuriating stories I've seen come out of this war: a young woman serving in Iraq is brutally murdered by one of her fellow soldiers, and the Army does everything they can to cover it up, including telling her parents that LaVena committed suicide.
What these morons didn't know is that LaVena's dad is a doctor, and it only took him one look at his daughter's corpse to know that calling her death a suicide was a goddamned lie.
Now they're trying to get the Army to reopen LaVena's case. You can read more about it at this blog. Also, you can watch a report on the case by KMOV in St. Louis here.
(Thanks to
joasakura for pointing this out to me.)

Please explain to me why the fuck this crap is considered top news. Is it really that slow of a news day?
(I think our media is starting to resemble the Japanese media. No, that is NOT a compliment.)

While I know I've got to be my own drill sergeant on this stuff, I will welcome any encouragement, suggestions, browbeating, nagging, etc. that you guys care to provide. ^_^

I haven't even seen most of these movies/TV shows. ^_^;;
Your Score: Geek Aspirant
You scored 59 out of 60

If you don't consider yourself a geek, perhaps you could start.
If you do, you're probably mad at me for picking ambiguous quotes. (I swear they're the best IMDB had to offer... you might want to re-watch some of your movies).

Dear fellow staffers,
P-e-a-k means the high point of something, such as a mountaintop or experience.
P-e-e-k means a quick, often-furtive look at something or someone.
LEARN THE FRIGGIN' DIFFERENCE, PLEASE.
TIA,
Sakka

As if I wasn't cooking enough fattening things thanks to your evil influences (yes, Giada and Ina, I'm looking at you), now you have me macerating berries and making my own whipped cream for topping. (Although I can't really blame Food Network for my eating the whole bowlful. ^_^;;)
